About Rubymaze
We make software for businesses that run on detail.
The name is a promise about the work. A ruby is cut to be exact, and a maze only works when every path is thought through. That is how we like to build.
01Our approach
Small, sharp and dependable.
Most business software tries to be everything to everyone, and ends up unclear about what it is for. Rubymaze goes the other way. Each product has one job, and we put our effort into doing that job exactly right.
RubyFinance handles invoicing, purchases, banking and reporting on a proper double-entry ledger. RubyDesk handles requests: who asked, who owns it, how urgent it is, and what happened next.
We build for South African businesses first, which means rands, VAT and local reporting are part of the foundations rather than add-ons.
02Principles
What we hold ourselves to.
- 01
Precision over polish
A screen can look finished and still be wrong. We start with the maths, the data model and the edge cases, then make it beautiful.
- 02
Fewer things, done properly
Two products, each with a clear job. We would rather do one thing well than a dozen things approximately.
- 03
Built for here
Rand amounts, 15% VAT, South African reporting and POPIA-aware handling of personal information are starting points, not afterthoughts.
- 04
Accountable by default
Books that balance and tickets with a history. When something changes, the software should be able to say who changed it and when.
